Room by room: Nursery pt. 1

My goal for 2018 is health.  Part of health is having your home in order.  Home health is personal health.

So I am slowly touching each and every room, trying to make them pretty to me.  The playroom was basically room one.  And now I've started in the nursery.

Why the nursery you ask?

Well, it's not anything exciting.  I have a friend who is getting ready to give birth to her second daughter, and I have a lot of clothes that needed a good home.  So the nursery was picked mostly because I needed a swift kick in the rear to get those clothes organized and boxed up for her!  And holy crap are there a lot of clothes!
Boxes labeled ready to be passed forward!

So now that the clothes are taken care of, we have a few boxes of clothes we are keeping, either for sentimental value or for any future children we may possibly have.  The next goal is to get through the 2 big boxes in the closet that I don't even know what they are.  I'm gonna halfway laugh/cry if it's more clothes.

Horrible closet pic but it is hard to get a better one! The boxes
I want to get through are back there in the corner!

Baby girl might have a clothing problem...

but it's not my fault.

Solely my fault anyway!

Other people buy her clothes too!!!

Anyway, the next goal is to get in those big boxes.  And hopefully have an updated post in the near future showing off a shiny new nursery to see!

Hopefully.

Getting outside

As the weather warms up, we find ourselves having a bit of cabin fever.

How do you combat that?!

GET OUTSIDE!

And man oh man have we spent our time outside lately.  Warm days, shorts, hair up, play equipment.. that is all you need in life.

At least in 2 year old life!

We have been enjoying our days outside.  We have been enjoying our time playing without a care in the world.  It is nice to get out in the fresh air after all the sickness and doctors visits.  It's nice to play without a care in the world.

And baby girl has been doing her part.

Running, screaming, climbing, sliding.  She has been doing it all.

She's making new friends every time we play.  She loves following the bigger kids around, and they usually love having her tag along.  She is everyone's favorite baby after all!

We are working on planning our summer vacation this year.  We are thinking the beach... and I think baby girl would approve of this idea!

Being outside is giving us back a little breath of life!  It is so nice and warming and comfortable.

**So story time... real quick.  These pictures were taken as we waited outside a restaurant for daddy to show up.  These are not the pictures I meant to put with this blog post about getting out and making new friends.  But as I looked over the pictures I took at the play ground, every single one of them as a face of a kid in it that I cannot crop out, no matter how hard I try.  So out of respect to those kiddos, you get these pictures instead of the ones of her playing at the playground!**

Weekend plans

Some families are probably planning big weekends away doing things now that the weather is warming up.

Not us!

We are planning how to clean up our yard!

So much fun.

(I don't know if that's sarcasm or not.  I haven't decided myself!)

So day one of making your yard presentable involved a trip to the hardware store for a
backboard for a new shelf (nothing to do with the yard, but still) and to get mulch.

See, there's the new shelf with the new backboard on that I did!  The shelf was already put together, but that backboard, that's all me.  (It's the little things you all!)

Then a second trip as you realize that you need so much more mulch than you could ever imagine.  And nails, because those are important to nail backboard onto a shelf.

Then a realization that you are gonna get only so much done this first weekend.

We also started our seeds, but that'll be it's own post!

Anyway, every weekend from now until eternity will be spent on this yard.  Weeding, pruning, mulching... so much to do!

But I'm sure they'll be pretty when they are done!

Oh yeah, someone also got gardening gloves from grandma and granddaddy.. and she's loving them!  How cute is she with her little gloves on helping?

Day in the life

Ever wonder how our days flow?  Well, I picked a random day and decided to take a picture of everything we do, within reason.

So here you go, a day in the life of a 2.5 year old!

We stared the morning by waking up.  Yeah, seems simple, but I figure it's a good place to start!  Usually daddy leaves for work around 7:30 and baby girl is up and ready now a days by 8am.  I, however, am not a morning person.  So we typically sit and snuggle for a bit in bed.  She chats in her little babbly way, I nod and mmhmm when appropriate.  It works.

This morning we had oatmeal.  And you know, that's the only picture I can't find in my folders!  But it was Quakers Blueberry and Cream Oatmeal. Trust me, good stuff!

When we were eating breakfast I decided I Wanted some cold sweet tea.  So I made some hot black tea, then made it cold.  lol.  Simple, right?!  I made enough tea for 2 glasses.  One now, one later.
Also during breakfast we watched a little Sesame Street.  Seriously loving them lately.  And she's so interactive with them!  Brain Building!

After breakfast, we got dressed and headed down to our neighborhoods playground!  Absolutely love it there.  And it's a 2 minute walk from our house.  You can't beat that.
She climbed this tower all by herself.  She was super proud!

And we played.  For long time!

She was so proud of herself for conqueroring this climbing wall!

After we finally had enough play time, we came back to the house.  Yes, of course it wasn't perfectly easy!  A kid on a playground who is over tired because I just realized what time it was?  Yeah, that was a meltdown!

But we had lunch and watched a new to us show called Classical Baby on HBO Go.  We've been watching it a bit here and there, and while it's not what we thought it was, she actually loves it right before naps and sleeping time.  It really chills her out.

After lunch was another diaper change and then getting ready for nap!  She loves that salt lamp as much as I do.  It's the perfect night light.. except she's turned it off and on so much it now has a busted bulb we have to replace.  But honestly, small beans compared to how much it's part of her routine now!

After nap was a great snack of grapes!  Then we colored and worked on counting in our first and  second languages.  She's getting better at it than me!

Then there was a demand for more snacks!  Except, nothing she asked for was ACTUALLY what she wanted.  I have zero clue what she actually wanted, but it wasn't anything you see pictured here.  And after the lonely piece of naan bread, I basically gave up and she stopped asking!  Win/win!

 Then we wrapped baby!

As you can see behind baby is my open laptop.  I was trying to get some blog posts edited and ready to be put up.  That did not happen.  Baby wrapping was much more important!
 Listened to Maimoa, a favorite!

Danced to Te Vaka (an absolute favorite!)  And included a little bow at the end to complete the dance.

Then busted out to some Meghan Trainor.  This is a newer obsession, but my goodness she knows everyone word to almost every some she's heard from her!

After all that dancing, she got a little impatient for daddy to get home!  She decided to take her baby, her blanket, and a couch pillow and go lay down on the floor by the door daddy would come in.  This was obviously the only acceptable answer!

From here until supper was a lot of random play and throwing things.  After daddy gets home she likes to go a little buck wild and just blast through full steam ahead.  And daddy has great bonding time with her!  I took some pictures, but I think it's better not to put them up.

After a little daddy play time, we were off to supper.  We ended up going out this night, to a favorite Chinese restaurant with sushi.  Daddy gets his favorite, I get my favorite, and baby girl got the chicken on a stick and (her favorite) French fries!  She actually ate a whole stick chicken and part of my eggroll.  As well as, obviously, her fries.

After supper is calm down get ready for bed time.  I didn't take any pictures of this part because being present is important to help her calm down and settle into sleep.  We change into jammies, we brush and floss teeth, we sing a song, tell a story, and drift off to night nights.

And THAT my friends is a typical day in the life of a 2.5 year old kiddo!  And pretty much a day in my life as a stay at home papa!  So much movement, so much fun!
