Puddle Jumping

In an attempt to be more wild with our days, we took advantage of the most recent rain to go out and do some puddle jumping.  We have to be careful as our road is high traffic by people who couldn't care less that it's a neighborhood street, so going to the good puddles in the road was a no go.

We ended up staying mostly along the drain line!

She had so much fun!  So much fun.

I am loving how much fun she had. She didn't want to go back inside!

Which was fine until it started to really downpour and the wind picked up.

All in all it was a great day and we had so much fun playing in a stream of water!

Your blog posts have gotten...

Superficial.
Boring.
Bland.
Repetitive.
Not worth reading.

Those are a few of the complaints I've received since starting blogging again after surgery.  It seems I'm not delivering to my audience and that is really bothering a lot of you!

I have hopes and dreams for this space.  I have hopes of keeping this space to following our schooling decisions, our future playdates and experiences, our family time, our expansion of our family... and so much more.

Right now we are in a bit of a boring season.  Everyone is getting sick from first of the year colds, we don't have many playdates because of everyone being sick, and honestly there isn't much fun things to write about at the moment.

I am currently using this space to record some every day type things.

And I'm okay with that.

This is my space to use how I see fit.  Yes, I want to make it entertaining so everyone will want to read it.  But right now, right this moment, it's just mundane every day stuff.  Hopefully you'll stick around for more!

but if not, I understand!

For those who do, hopefully in the next few weeks we'll hit our stride and have fun again!

If there is ever a post you want to see, please don't hesitate to drop me a line and let me know.  A comment on a blog post or on our facebook page is always a winner!

Thanks so much for understanding!

The joys of a mask

Recently we went up north to visit some friends.  It was awesome and baby girl had a blast with her chosen family.  She found this cat mask at the house of a friend and holy hell it was hours of fun!  Here are a few highlights from her enjoyment.  It was the only thing that lasted well into the night (notice the costume change!).

If it wasn't so glittery, we might of even bought one.

But washing all that glitter out of her hair?  It was a nightmare.

But enough whining, on to her enjoyment!

Up close and personal with the kitty kitty cat mask!  So much fun was had!

Toddler Fashion

Baby girl is slowly exerting her independence.  One way she's doing so is by picking out her own clothes.  Not everyday, as some days she just doesn't care. But it has created some fun and awesome outfits.  This is one of my recent favorites.

This one came with instructions for a mini fashion photo shoot and her insistence on when to take the picture.  She posed herself and everything.

As you can see, pink pants and a sleeveless jean jacket are the new fashion marker!

Take note!  She's a trend setter!

Do you have a fashionista?  I'd love to see their outfits of choice!!

On our bookshelf right now

Or better... in our kindle because it's easier to read at night when you have something already lit up... haha.

Currently I am reading two new books.

How children learn by John Holt

Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

How am I liking them so far?  Well I am only about 20 pages into the Holt book and I literally starter the Kimmerer book yesterday on a car ride.  So, right now, I am reserving judgement until I can read a bit more/finish the books.

I plan to talk more about books I'm reading or have read and their impact in my parenting and life decisions.  I feel like book recommends and just in general discussions are exciting and important!

Please feel free to leave book suggestions in the comments!  I love reading books others recommend, when I can.  Reading is always put on the back shelf when I'm needing to do other tasks, so it takes me quite a while to finish a book, but as I do I will put up a quick review for everyone!

How we are feeling right now.

This is my current philosophy.  This is what I'm trying to adopt permanently.  This is what I am hoping I can give baby girl, and any other children we may (or may not) have.  Montessori was so ahead of her time in all things.  I love her quotes.

This is life and this is where we are headed in life.

Here's to the unstructured time little one... to the future and beyond.

Image caption:
Let the children be free.  Encourage them.  Let them run outside when it is raining. Let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water. And when the grass of the meadows is wet with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet. Let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath it's shade. Let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them in the morning.

Quote by Maria Montessori.

These pants...

Okay they are leggings, I know that.

But these pants!

Look at these!

Are they not the cutest thing you've seen yet today?

Lie to me, they are and you know it!

I bought them for her on a whim.  They are 2 sizes too big, but dammit, they are perfect!

I love them so.

And she'll get a few years wear out of them, unless she magically grows suddenly!
Just in case you weren't convinced, here is another angle with the shirt she was wearing down over them.  I mean, seriously, cutest ever!

Some fun out in nature!

As the weather starts to turn colder, we find ourselves outside more often.  Recently we took a trip to a local nature center and had a blast playing without a care in the world.

I love when the kids can get together and just be kids.  The lure of being in nature is very strong for myself and for baby girl, and it's awesome to have a place to be there in the concrete jungle we live in.

So baby girl and her bestie were running all around, getting into everything, having a blast.  They climbed rocks, they ran through overgrowth, they played across a wooden bridge (on a playset), they danced on stage together!  They had a blast!

And adults got to have semi adult conversation.

Her behavior really changes after we get a whole day outside.  It's almost as if this resets her to the perfect angel I remember as an infant.  It is so nice.

I also find it very healing to be free enough to finally enjoy my time outside, without a care in the world.  The wind, the bugs, the leaves as they fall.  It is amazing.

I can't wait until we can take a trip back to nature.
